Sharpless 27 (Sh2-27) is a large HII region in the constellation of Ophiuchus. It dominates the majority of the field of view in this image. Two other brighter HII regions can be seen in the upper right of the image, these being Lynd’s Bright Nebula 35 (LBN 35) and LBN 32. Above left of center are two Dark Nebulae with surrounding dust, these being Lynd’s Dark Nebula 255 (LDN 255) and LDN 260. Just left of center is another Dark Nebula, LDN 234 and below this at the bottom of the image is LDN 204 and LDN 191.
