NGC 2017

Open Cluster, Lepus

NGC 2017 is a collection of multiple stars in the constellation of Lepus. It contains four bright members and several fainter ones. The brightest star (A) is also a double with a separate designation. At a combined magnitude of 6.4 and a diameter of 10′), some sources describe this object as a sparse open cluster, while others indicate that it might be an asterism (Star Clusters, Brent Archinal and Steven Hynes), while the Washington Double Star Catalog lists it as the complex multiple star h3780.
Located close to the celestial equator it is at least partly visible from both hemispheres during the course of a year.
