Dark Nebula, Aquila
Lynds Dark Nebula 617 (LDN 617) is a dark nebula in the constellation Aquila. This region borders Scutum to the South and Serpens Cauda to the South-East. LDN 617 measures approximately 50′ x 15′ in size and is just above center in this image.

Objects listed in the catalogue are numbered with the prefix LDN (not to be confused with LBN, or Lynds’ Catalogue of Bright Nebulae), from numbers 1 to 1802. It was originally compiled in 1962 by American astronomer Beverly Turner Lynds.
