Lynd’s Dark Nebula 1436 (LDN 1436) and LDN 1438 are two dark nebulae located in the constellation Auriga. They are composed primarily of interstellar dust that blocks background light. The red nebulosity is part of a supernova remnant, about 5,000 light-years away and situated behind the Auriga dust complex in Taurus, about 300 light-years away, and can be seen interspersed amongst the foreground dark nebula.
