Emission Nebula, Auriga

December 2009. Cave Creek Canyon Observatory, Arizona Sky Village

IC 417 is an emission nebula in Auriga that is energized by embedded hot, massive blue stars. The bluish clouds of gas are locations of new star formation.

Total Imaging Time: 12h 35m

Data Imaged remotely over 3 nights during December 2009 & combined with Ha data from December 2008.
