Sharpless 126 (Sh2-126) is a large and faint emission nebula in the constellation of Lacerta. This nebula is often referred to as the Great Lacerta Nebula. It is about 1200 light years from Earth. At the top (north) of this image is LBN-437, a molecular cloud (also known as the Gecko Nebula). The left side of LBN 347 contains many bright stars that are recently formed from the cloud. In this region, the young star V375 is associated with the X-shaped Herbig-Haro object HH398. These objects are bright regions of nebulosity associated with newborn stars, and are formed when gas ejected by the star collides with nearby clouds of gas and dust.
